Rail Trail to close for maintenance near Cathkin

The Great Victorian Rail Trail between Ridds Road and Baynes Road, Cathkin, just south of the Alexandra turn-off, will be closed for maintenance on the afternoon of Monday 26 May. It will be open to the public again on Tuesday 27 May. Please note there will be no access to this section of the trail during this time.

Wandering stock found in Flowerdale

A bull has been found wandering the Flowerdale area. It is wearing a pink ear tag numbered 263, but no National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) tag. Please help us reunite it with its owner. If the bull is not re-claimed (with evidence) within 7 days, it will be put up for sale. If you recognise this animal, please contact Council's Community Safety team on 5772 0333.

Murrindindi Shire 2025 Community Award recipients

The 2025 Community Award winners were officially announced at a special volunteer appreciation event in Yea on Saturday 17 May. More than 120 volunteers and representatives from volunteer-led groups across the Shire gathered to celebrate the spirit of volunteering and recognise this year’s nominees.

Tender awarded for Snobs Creek Road landslip works

Murrindindi Shire Council has awarded a tender for repair works on a significant landslip site on Snobs Creek Road, Eildon. The total contract value is $494,363.72, subject to funding approval from the State’s Department of Transport and Planning through the Commonwealth and Victorian government’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Emergency Services and Volunteer Fund and Support for Farmers

Statement from the Mayor. Murrindindi Shire Council remains deeply concerned about the introduction of the Emergency Services and Volunteer Fund (ESVF) and the impact this new levy will have on rural communities, particularly our farmers already under significant financial pressure.

Beyond the Beats a resounding success

Murrindindi Shire Council congratulates the young organisers and performers who brought the Beyond the Beats event to life in Eildon on Sunday 13 April. The afternoon featured five local artists and drew a crowd of 55 attendees from across the Shire and surrounding areas.
