Australia’s largest sustainability and community festival, the Garage Sale Trail, is back this November, refashioned for COVID-19 and bigger than ever!

The Garage Sale Trail will take place online or in-person (restrictions permitting) over two huge weekends on 13-14 and 20-21 November.

Murrindindi Shire Council is proud to be supporting this event and is encouraging residents to sell, shop and learn about the circular economy.

Council’s Environment Portfolio Councillor Karine Haslam said the festival is a win-win for the environment and residents’ pockets.

‘A circular economy means items are kept in use for as long as possible so we reduce waste. That’s something all Murrindindi Shire residents can get behind and it’s a concept reflected in Council’s recently adopted Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.

‘This year, locals can choose to host a garage sale online or in-person, COVID-19 restrictions permitting. Whether you host a sale virtually or in-person, you’ll receive a bunch of resources and tips to set you up for success!

‘Ahead of the Garage Sale Trail event residents can also tune in to a range of free, online ‘Trail Tutorial’ master-classes, which are dedicated to helping you learn how to re-home, re-love and re-purpose your belongings. You’ll hear from experts from the world of fashion, styling, finance and sustainability. These session will run on 6-7 November and you can find more information about the master-classes, including a schedule, here.

‘Then, over two big weekends of garage sales, sell your pre-loved goods or shop the Trail and snag a bargain either online or in person.

‘Registrations are now open! So, head online and get involved!’ Cr Haslam added.
