On Wednesday 17 May, Murrindindi Shire Council will fly the Pride Flag to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) and to show its support for the local LGBTQIA+ community.

On this day, Council will host its inaugural Pride Flag Raising Ceremony from 10.00 to 11.00 am outside the Alexandra Council offices at 28 Perkins Street. Council will fly the Pride Flag at the Yea and Kinglake Library and Customer Service Centres, demonstrating a commitment to a standard of diversity, inclusion, and equality for all.

Community members are invited and encouraged to attend the flag raising ceremony.

A free morning tea will be offered, providing the opportunity to hear from our guest speaker Tara Pedersen. Tara is a local resident of Alexandra and member of the Thornton-Eildon District Football & Netball Club. Tara will be speaking to the importance of flying the Pride flag this IDAHOBIT Day.
