2030Yea Community Energy (2030Yea Inc)

2030Yea has three broad goals to:

  • Look for grants to provide solar PV for public buildings in Yea
  • Offer a free Home Energy Efficiency Advice service.
  • Work towards a community energy project that will benefit Yea residents.

Since 2020 when 2030Yea was incorporated, we have won five grants for Yea:

  1. Murrindindi Shire Council funded a renewables options paper for Yea called Opportunities for Community Energy in Yea. The study was carried out by the Community Power Agency.
  2. We completed a DELWP funded Climate Adaptation project with four components: an online information "pod" that focused on climate adaptation in Yea, based on the Victorian Government’s Climate Adaptation strategy.
  3. Yea Recreation Reserve is the largest recipient of the RACV Resilience in the Regions program. The solar and battery installation that was donated is valued at $115,000 and is split between the football/cricket and netball clubrooms.
  4. A grant from the Victorian Government was successful resulting in Solar PV and battery for the Yea Pottery Studio and Men's Shed.
  5. A grant from the NAB Foundation provided solar PV for the Old Schoolhouse at Pioneer Reserve.

We have also commissioned a research report by ANU on the feasibility of a community battery for Yea and have been working with RMIT on the feasibility of a microgrid. We have established our Home Energy Efficiency Advice service which can be accessed by contacting us via our website.

We have recently applied for funding to develop a business case for a community battery for Yea, in collaboration with RMIT, Indigo Power and Murrindindi Shire Council.

We welcome new members and encourage involvement by joining our (very small) committee. Read more about us on our website.
