Murrindindi Shire Council has provided $147,491 in funding through its 2024–25 Grants and Sponsorships Program, supporting 72 applications for community projects, community events and individuals.

The Program distributes funding across six streams:
• Quick Response
• Sponsorship
• Community Projects
• Local Events
• Special Purpose
• Events of Major Significance

Council aims to strengthen communities by supporting initiatives that build social connections, improve health and wellbeing, enhance liveability, deliver community projects, protect the environment and foster future planning.

In the last financial year (2024-25) allocations have supported a diverse range of activities including:
• environmental and cultural education at Alexandra and District Kindergarten
• facility improvements at Thornton Eildon Football and Netball Club
• Yea Arts Inc with the Dark Puppet Show
• Alexandra Community Christmas Tree Festival

Funding also backed major events, and popular community celebrations including the Yea Rotary Club Garden Expo and Strath Creek’s Christmas in July.

In addition, sponsorships supported the Triangle Arts Group Marysville Arts Festival. Local events funding also helped deliver the Rotary Club of Kinglake Ranges’ Lift the Lid Festival and Alexandra Rotary Club’s Dindi Daze.

Council encourages community groups and individuals to consider applying for support in 2025-26. Council Grant and Sponsorship information can be found via Council's website.

Councillor Jodi Adams, Portfolio Councillor for Community Wellbeing, said Council was proud to invest in initiatives that bring people together and strengthen local communities.

“The Grants and Sponsorships Program is a practical way Council can support the great work of our community groups, volunteers and event organisers,” Cr Adams said. “These projects and events make a real difference in people’s lives, and we’re pleased to help them happen through the 2025–26 Program.”
