Council resolves to offer Chief Executive Officer a further term

Murrindindi Shire Council has unanimously resolved to offer Chief Executive Officer Ms Livia Bonazzi a further five-year contract of employment, commencing 7 June 2026.

Ms Bonazzi was appointed as Murrindindi Shire Council’s Chief Executive Officer on 8 June 2021 for an initial five-year term, which concludes on 6 June 2026. In accordance with the Local Government Act 2020, Council is required to provide notice of its intentions regarding the CEO’s employment within prescribed timeframes prior to the expiry of the current contract.

Council appreciates Ms Bonazzi’s strong performance against the key performance indicators set by Council and her leadership through periods of significant organisational and external challenges.

Council also recognised her advocacy on behalf of Council at both State and Federal levels, her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent emergencies, and her role in reshaping Council’s organisational structure and operating model to support delivery of the Council Plan and evolving community expectations.

Council is very pleased with Ms Bonazzi’s contribution to building a capable executive and management team, her demonstrated commitment to the Murrindindi Shire community, and the constructive working relationships she has established with the community and key stakeholders.

Mayor Cr Damien Gallagher said the decision reflected Council’s focus on long-term leadership stability and strategic delivery.

“We are navigating a roadmap to financial sustainability. This resolution provides certainty and continuity at a critical point in Council’s planning and delivery cycle,” Cr Gallagher said.

“Council is confident that Ms Bonazzi’s leadership will continue to support the implementation of our Council Plan, strengthen organisational capability, and deliver outcomes that align with the long-term interests of the Murrindindi community.”
