Council proudly supported Murrindindi East U3A with the purchase of four sets of Pickleball equipment. The equipment was partially funded through Council's Grants and Sponsorships program, with additional fundraising from Murrindindi East U3A.

Pickleball was introduced to Australia in 2015 and has gained popularity as a low impact, all-inclusive sport, with easy to learn rules. It is played using a paddle (racquet) by two or four players to hit a perforated hollow plastic ball over a net. The game continues until one side is unable to return the ball or commits a rule infraction. Court measurement is the same size as a doubles badminton court and can be quite addictive.

Murrindindi East U3A is playing Pickleball at three venues - St. John's Hall and The Community Gym in Alexandra, and the Thornton Hall in Thornton.

New players are welcome, so come along and test out your skills with this new sport. Learning something unfamiliar, whilst remaining physically active, is key to a healthy retirement. So, if you are a senior and you are interested in joining a Pickleball group, then you can enrol online at the Murrindindi East U3A website.

If you have any questions about Pickleball or any other classes, please phone Libby Longham on 0408 896 730.
