Learn value of trees for birds, pollinators, and our communities!
Council is hosting in-person events and an online webinar, to talk about the value of trees for birds, pollinators, and our communities, the recent street tree audit and how to get involved in National Tree Day (27 July 2025).
There will be an online webinar, however we encourage you to attend your nearest in-person talk, as there will be a light dinner provided.
On Wednesday 16 July, from 6.30 to 8.30 pm, we will be hosting the talk and Q&A at three locations:
The online event will begin at 6.50 pm and feature a 30-minute talk from Ron Litjens, Murrindindi Shire Volunteer of the Year for 2025.

Ron Litjens
Ron Litjens is an enthusiastic amateur naturalist who has spent many years observing the interactions between wildlife and vegetation both on his bush block in Flowerdale and as a recent ‘townie’ in Yea.
Ron has a wealth of knowledge about local birds and insects and the plants they love. He has personal experience in gardens and spaces that attract birds and insects. He is a member of the Strath Creek Landcare Group and Yea River Landcare Group and a tour guide at the Yea Wetlands. He is the author of the popular local nature blog, ‘Focus on Fauna’.
