Youth Leadership program- April to October 2021

Our Youth Leadership program will soon be kicking off for another year. This free program is open to up to 10 young people aged 12-25 from across the Murrindindi Shire and aims to encourage young people to recognise their inherent leadership skills, and build upon their strengths in a team environment. The program challenges the traditional notions of leadership and provides young people with the opportunity to work on a project to make a difference in their community over 6 months.

The program kicks off with a free team-building camp 13-15 April 2021. Check out the flyer here(PDF, 3MB) .

To apply to the 2021 Youth Leadership program email and tell us in a couple of sentences what your current strengths are, and what skills you would like to improve upon through participating in the program.

The Dindi Sessions - Original music from Murrindindi to you!

Following the huge success of 'The Dindi Sessions' last year, the Youth Services team has once again partnered with a number of professionals to bring music industry mentoring, songwriting workshops and a Pop-Up recording studio to Murrindindi Shire. And, it's all at no cost to the young artists except for the leap of faith in sharing their creativity with a broader audience.

Keep an eye on the Youth Services Facebook page to check out the latest releases coming soon - Don't forget to 'Like' and 'Share'! A performance showcasing the extraordinary talent of Murrindindi Shire's youth is planned for May 2021.

Council employs a skilled workforce to deliver the seasonal pool program between November and March annually. Young people from the age of 16 are eligible to become qualified lifeguards. Each year there is upwards of 25 positions available across four locations. The FReeZA program provides opportunities for young people to have direct experience in the music and performing arts industries while gaining project management, marketing and team work skills. Young people develop confidence and capabilities through participation in our Youth Services programs which assist in establishing educational and career pathways.

Our service partners also provide opportunities for small business establishment, job readiness and industry work experience. Examples include a Coding Club and a Makers Space program:
