Impacts to Council Services

The following services will resume on Monday 12 January 2026:
Kerbside Bin Collection
- Scheduled services for all kerbside collections from Friday 9 January and Saturday 10 January for Kinglake and Toolangi will be collected on Monday 12 January.
- Monday 12 January scheduled kerbside collection service for Eildon, Taggerty and Maryville will be completed as planned.
- Some collections may be delayed due to road closures and changing conditions. Please leave your bins out for collection.
*Note all this is subject to change without notice as these conditions evolve. Road access, weather conditions and general conditions in conjunction with Emergency Authorities and if safe to do so may change this plan.
Resource Recovery Centres
- Kinglake and Marysville (closed on Monday 12 January due to Total Fire Ban day) sites will reopen week beginning Monday 12 January, as per usual operating hours.
Libraries and Customer Services
- Yea and Kinglake Library and Customer Service Centres will open as per usual operating hours.
- Alexandra Library will open as per usual operating hours.
- Customer Service Call Centre will open as per usual hours.
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services
- For families in parts of the Shire not directly impacted by the fire event, Maternal and Child Health appointments are currently expected to proceed as scheduled.
- Appointments in Marysville and Eildon have been rescheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 13 January.
- Appointments will continue where it is safe to do so and subject to changing conditions and advice from emergency authorities. Families will be contacted directly if there are any changes to their appointment.
For the safety of our staff and community, the following services are closed:
- Resource Recovery Centres at Alexandra, Yea and Eildon and Landfill are closed.
- All Swimming pools are closed.
- Alexandra Customer Service reception is closed.
- Our Mobile Library is not operating.
- Yea Wetlands Discovery Centre is closed.
- Yea Saleyards is closed.
- Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services in some areas:
- Appointments for Alexandra clients have been cancelled.
- The immunisation sessions planned for Alexandra and Yea on Wednesday have also been cancelled. They have been automatically rescheduled for Wednesday 28 January.
- Council will work to reschedule affected appointments when it is safe to do so. Families impacted by these cancellations will be contacted directly.
- For babies under eight weeks of age, Maternal and Child Health nurses will provide phone support. Where a weight check is considered necessary, arrangements will be considered if this can be done safely.
Council is working closely with emergency services and partner agencies and will share updates as appropriate.
