A Catastrophic Fire Danger rating and Total Fire Ban has been declared for tomorrow, Friday 9 January for Murrindindi Shire.

For the safety of our staff and community, we are limiting some of our services on Friday 9 January, including:

  • Kerbside Bin Collection is postponed until conditions improve. At this stage Saturday collection is likely, please leave your bins out.
  • All Resource Recovery Centres and Landfill will be closed.
  • All Libraries will be closed.
  • Customer Service will be operating remotely, only accessible by phone, email and online.
  • Swimming pools in Eildon, Marysville and Yea will be closed, including lap swimming (Alexandra Swimming Pool will be open in the afternoon from 1.00 to 7.00 pm).
  • Our Mobile Library will not be operating.
  • Maternal and Child Health Services have been rescheduled.
  • Yea Wetlands Discovery Centre is closed.
  • Yea Saleyards will be closed.

Alexandra Swimming Pool will be open from 1.00 to 7.00 pm at this time.

We encourage our community to be aware of the risks. In addition to the Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating, strong winds may cause branches or trees to fall, so avoid any unnecessary travel.

Council is working closely with emergency services and partner agencies and will share updates as appropriate.

Remember for emergency assistance call Triple Zero (000). To report hazards on Council roads, call (03) 5772 0333.

Stay cool and hydrated, and check in on family, friends and neighbours.
