Flood recovery information
In accordance with section 65 of the Local Government Act 2020, Council has established five Community Asset Committees that have delegated powers by the Chief Executive Officer, these committees were established in August 2020.
Previously these Committees were known as Section 86 Committees of Management under Section 86 of the Local Government Act 1989.
The role of these Committees is to deliver a service on behalf of Council to their community, including managing a Council facility to ensure it remains accessible and usable by those in the community that depend on the use of the facility.
The Gallipoli Park Precinct is located in Marysville and the Community Centre is available for hire. Famil tours of the Centre are available on request.
Glenburn Community Centre, otherwise known as the old Schoolhouse, is located on Melba Highway and is used for community meetings, including Craft Group and Book Club.
The Yea Showgrounds and Recreation Reserve is located on five hectares in the township of Yea. It is the home of the Yea Football Netball Club, the Yea Tigers Cricket Club, the Yea Tennis Club and the Yea Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Association.
The only functioning saleyard facility in the Murrindindi Shire is located in Yea. The yards hold 3000 head of weaner cattle or 2500 head of grown cattle and sales are held on a monthly basis with High Country Weaner feature sales held in January and February.
The Yea Wetlands is approximately 32 hectares of large floodplains on the edge of the Yea township.
