Murrindindi Shire Council has an exciting one month acting opportunity for a Manager Community Wellbeing to lead and support the delivery of key community services. This short-term role will suit an experienced leader with strong strategic capability, financial literacy and a commitment to strengthening community wellbeing. 

This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing social and health outcomes across the Shire and in positively representing Council within the community, partner organisations and government agencies. 

About this opportunity 

In this Acting Manager Community Wellbeing role, you will provide steady leadership and continuity across Council’s community wellbeing programs and services. You will support the team and guide operational and strategic activity during the acting period. 

Working closely with government, service providers and community groups, you will: 

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team across community services. 

  • Maintain delivery of strategic plans and policies, including components of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. 

  • Oversee high quality, client centred community service delivery aligned with legislation, program guidelines and best practice. 

  • Manage key operational requirements including budgets, grants, reporting and compliance. 

  • Provide timely advice and reporting to the Executive and Council. 

  • Support partnership engagement with service providers, government agencies and community stakeholders. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and organisational culture through participation in the Senior Management Team. 

  • Assist with municipal emergency recovery responsibilities as required, including after-hours support if an emergency arises. 

What you will bring 

  • Tertiary qualifications (postgraduate preferred) in health, social sciences or related fields, and/or extensive experience in community services planning and delivery.  

  • Experience leading and developing staff to achieve positive outcomes.  

  • Demonstrated financial management capability.  

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.  

  • Policy development and project management experience.  

  • High level problem-solving, decision making and change-management skills.
