Council is committed to promoting accessibility and inclusivity for everyone in our community. Explore services and resources designed to improve the experience of those with mobility and other support needs who live in or visit our area.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for eligible people under 65 with permanent and significant disability. It is designed to give participants the choice and control to select the services that best meet their needs for support.

Access Murrindindi Project

Council wants to develop accessibility in townships for all residents and tourists by working with businesses to make their locations mobility aid friendly and facilitating pathways to important locations.

Mobility Resources

Council is dedicated to creating a more accessible and welcoming environment for everyone. To help you, we have gathered resources for individuals who need mobility support. 

Murrindindi Shire Mobility Map

Council has developed the Murrindindi Shire Mobility Brochure(PDF, 3MB) to map the shopping centres of Alexandra, Eildon, Kinglake, Marysville and Yea with services and facilities such as disabled parking, access all abilities toilets and pavements and scooter recharge points.

Mobility Aid (scooter) recharge points

Look out for the Recharge Point sticker for places to recharge your battery.

We currently have three identified recharge points in the Shire. You can access these for free at:

  • Alexandra Library at 49 Grant Street, Alexandra
  • High Street Public Toilets at 63 High Street, Yea
  • Kinglake Library at 19 Whittlesea Road, Kinglake

Businesses and organisations are also encouraged to provide a power point for people to recharge electric scooter or wheelchair batteries.

Multi Purpose Taxi Program

Safe Transport Victoria's Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) assists with the travel needs of people with severe and permanent disabilities by offering subsidised taxi fares to members. This includes 50% off your total fare (up to $60) and lifting fee coverage for wheelchairs or scooters.

Please note, not all taxi services accept MPTP member cards. We strongly encourage checking with providers and notifying the use of a mobility aid when booking.
