Murrindindi Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator to play a leadership role in supporting great physical and mental health outcomes for staff. The position plays a pivotal role supporting day to day safety whilst also influencing strategic outcomes and reporting directly to the Leadership Team.
About this opportunity
In this role you’ll be helping promote health and safety across our organisation, leading physical and mental health initiatives, overseeing compliance with our OHS framework and coordinating return to work arrangements and WorkCover claims management. Based at the Alexandra office the role supports health and safety at all council offices and operations centres.
This is a great opportunity to develop skills in safety leadership, WorkCover management and organisational wellbeing, whilst working in a supportive team environment. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and overseeing Council’s OHS Management System.Monthly reporting to the Leadership Team on OHS matters including incident reporting, wellbeing initiatives and key risks
- Managing the hazard and incident reporting process and overseeing completion of investigations
- Conducting safety audits and inductions with staff and contractors
- Coordinate OHS training, as needed
- Promote health, wellbeing and safe practices across the organisation.

The successful candidate will bring drive, a can-do attitude and a willingness to work on the frontline, while also stepping into the strategic arena to identify risks and report directly to the Leadership Team.
Key selection criteria include:
- Demonstrated experience in delivery of OHS services in a local government environment
- Strong communication skills
- Able to work independently and prioritise tasks
- Victorian Driver Licence
