We are a Business Friendly Council, what does that mean for businesses
The Business Friendly Council Program is a statewide initiative that helps local governments support and strengthen their business communities.
The Small Business Friendly Charter outlines six commitments that Council and the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) will jointly work on. These commitments include:
- Minimising disruption to small business from infrastructure projects
- Supporting local small business networks
- Streamlining permit approvals processes for small business
- Promptly paying small business suppliers
- Delivering information and guidance for small business
- Open communication between the VSBC and Murrindindi Shire Council on small business concerns

Business Concierge Program: how it can support you in starting and growing your business
The Business Concierge Program connects you directly with the Council's Business Concierge, who will assist you in obtaining the necessary permits when starting or expanding your business.
Streamlined Support for Your Business Needs
This tailored service simplifies the permit process for businesses, reducing complexity and duplication. You will receive dedicated support from a Council Officer within the Economic Development team, guiding you through the essential steps of establishing and growing your business.
Key steps can include:
- Completion of a Business Self Assessment Tool
- Initial discussion with Business Concierge
- Pre Application Meeting attended by key Council representatives including planning, building, environmental health, community safety and economic development officers.
- Tailored business support information and referral
- A single point of contact throughout the Council process and ongoing.
