Voting in the Kinglake Ward by-election

A by-election will be held to elect a new Councillor to represent Kinglake Ward on Murrindindi Shire Council.

The by-election follows the resignation of former Kinglake Ward Councillor Jodi Adams in August 2026.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is responsible for conducting the by-election. Voting will be conducted entirely by post, with ballot packs mailed to enrolled voters in Kinglake Ward from Monday 16 November 2026.

Voting is compulsory for voters enrolled for the election.

Key dates

  • Wednesday 23 September 2026: Electoral roll closes at 4.00 pm
  • Wednesday 14 October 2026: Candidate information session
  • Monday 19 October 2026: Candidate nominations open
  • Tuesday 27 October 2026: Candidate nominations close
  • Monday 16 November 2026: Mail-out of ballot packs begins
  • Friday 4 December 2026: Voting closes at 6.00 pm
  • Saturday 5 December 2026: Election day
  • Friday 18 December 2026: Indicative date for declaration of the result
