National Tree Day Events in Murrindindi Shire
Published on 01 June 2026
National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event, and there are plenty of ways to get involved across Murrindindi this June and July.
This year, Council is working with local Landcare groups to offer a mix of activities for all ages, from learning opportunities and hands-on planting events to family-friendly programs at our libraries. Keep an eye out on the opportunities below, which we will keep updating as National Tree Day approaches.
Join the “Love your Pollinators” webinar
A free online webinar will be held on Wednesday 15 July, exploring the role of vegetation in supporting pollinators like moths and how you can create habitats at home.
The session will be presented by Zoos Victoria and will also be broadcast at Alexandra, Kinglake and Yea libraries for those who prefer to attend in person.
All participants will receive a free pollinator-friendly plant, with collection available after the event.

Take part in local tree planting
Community tree planting events will take place across the Shire, including a Council-led planting day on Sunday 26 July.
These events are a great opportunity to get outdoors, connect with others and contribute to local biodiversity. Additional planting activities will also be delivered by Landcare groups, with details to be shared as they are confirmed.

Read, Learn and Win at your local library
From 8 June to 31 July, children can join the ‘Read, Learn and Win’ draw by picking up free activity books at Murrindindi Shire libraries.
By completing the activities, children can enter the draw and learn more about trees, pollinators and the natural environment along the way.
