The Murrindindi Shire Residential Design Guidelines have been developed to support the planning and design of new residential buildings across the Shire, including the key residential growth area of Alexandra East.

These design guidelines have been developed to support housing that is attractive, sustainable, and in tune with the rural charm and distinct identity of our towns and settlements.

The Guidelines are a reference document for all landowners, developers or builders wanting to build new housing in Murrindindi Shire. This document complements the approval processes required for new developments and is not intended to replace any controls or regulations. Professional advice should be sought on all approval matters. Examples of good design outcomes are included to help inform and inspire design decisions for new housing of all types.
