Breakaway Bridge Community Update

Council is hosting a community information meeting to provide an update on the Breakaway Bridge at Acheron.

The bridge was destroyed during the October 2022 floods, and planning for its replacement has involved detailed technical investigations and negotiations with relevant government agencies. Council has now received an offer of funding, and a tender process has progressed, with final decisions still to be confirmed by responsible agencies.

At this meeting, Council will share the latest information on the project, including the current status, proposed bridge design options, anticipated construction timeframes and associated works. The session will include presentations followed by a structured question and answer session, giving community members the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Residents and landholders directly affected by the bridge closure are encouraged to attend, along with anyone from the broader community with an interest in access, safety and recovery.
