Native vegetation

Allow natural regeneration before replanting.

Some native vegetation can be stimulated by fire, while other plants may not regenerate. This can lead to different plants regrowing which can be mistaken for weeds.

To encourage wildlife to return, it is important to leave habitat for the entire ecosystem to thrive.

  • If you’re unsure what a plant is, don’t remove it
  • Avoid slashing, spraying or disturbing bushland regrowth

If you think you’ve found something unusual:

  • Take a photo (if possible, a close up of flower/leaf, and one of the entire plant)
  • Note the location
  • Contact Council for advice

You can also report weeds using the Snap Send Solve app.

Protecting regrowth helps biodiversity recover across the Shire.
