Aged Care Hub at Alexandra Library

Funded by the Australian Government under the new Aged Care Act, the Hub offers a chance to learn more about upcoming changes to aged care services and provide feedback on what matters most to you.

The new Aged Care Act, starting from 1 November 2025, will put the rights and needs of older people first. It will improve how services are delivered in homes, communities and aged care homes, and introduce new funding arrangements to better support quality care.

Come along: 

• Thursday 6 November 10.30 am with Carer support with Jason from Familycare. Are you concerned about how to support an elderly friend or family member? Join us for morning tea at the Alexandra Library to hear from Jason Watts from Familycare talk about services available that may be able to help you support your partner, parent, sibling, friend or neighbour.
• Saturday 8 November, with special guest Sue Hendy, speaking with us about ageing, some strategies for navigating transitions and empowerment about rights – especially for those who might be feeling pressure and possibly feeling their lives moving outside of their own control. Sue is Director, International Federation on Ageing, Co-Chair, 'Human Rights as We Age' Network, Director, Doutta Galla Aged Services and Vice President, Tri Active Life. It is sure to be an informative and interesting presentation. Murrindindi Shire Council Access and Inclusion officer Andrew Langley will also be in attendance, and can help connect you to services if required.
• Monday 10 November 1.00 pm, Understanding Dementia with Counsellor Susie Nimmo, Do you want to access support or learn more about how to support someone who may have dementia? Dementia Counsellor, Susie Nimmo, will be at Alexandra Library at lunchtime to chat about services available through Dementia Australia. Light lunch provided.
