Murrindindi Shire Council has officially welcomed its newest Councillor, Cr Jordyn Princi, following her affirmation of office at Council Chambers in Alexandra on Wednesday 4 November 2026.

Joined by her family, Cr Princi was welcomed by fellow Councillors, Mayor Cr Damien Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer Livia Bonazzi, Council's Executive Leadership Team and staff, who came together to celebrate this important milestone.

Cr Princi will represent the Kinglake Ward, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of former Councillor Jodi Adams in August. With only one candidate nominating for the by-election, Cr Princi was elected unopposed, with no ballot required.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cr Princi thanked her family and friends for their support and spoke about the importance of building trust with the community she now represents.

"I would like to get going and represent my community as best as possible," Cr Princi said.

"It's very important to me that I earn the trust of our community and ... do the best for them."

Mayor Cr Damien Gallagher congratulated Cr Princi and welcomed her to Council.

"On behalf of Council, I warmly welcome Jordyn and congratulate her on becoming our newest Councillor," Cr Gallagher said.

"Representing your community is both a privilege and a responsibility. Jordyn's commitment to earning the trust of her community is a wonderful starting point, and I look forward to working alongside her.

"Having a strong voice for the Kinglake Ward at the Council table is important as we continue working together to deliver positive outcomes for communities across Murrindindi Shire."

During the ceremony, Cr Princi formally affirmed her commitment to act in the best interests of the municipal community, uphold the Model Councillor Code of Conduct and faithfully carry out her responsibilities under the Local Government Act 2020.

Following her affirmation, Cr Princi now takes her place alongside her fellow Councillors, representing the Kinglake Ward and contributing to the future of Murrindindi Shire.
