Help shape the next stage of recovery
Council is now inviting expressions of interest from community members who would like to represent their community on the Murrindindi Municipal Recovery Committee (MMRC).
The MMRC is a governance and coordination forum that brings together community representatives, Council, government agencies and recovery partners. It will help oversee implementation of the Recovery Action Plan, monitor progress, identify emerging needs and provide advice about recovery priorities.
Council is seeking to achieve geographical representation as well as sector and industry input. Community representatives are not expected to speak for every individual or hold the same views as other members. They may raise differing or minority perspectives and help ensure the experiences, priorities and knowledge of fire-affected communities inform recovery decisions.

The MMRC will include up to six community representatives in total, with the aim of achieving broad geographic representation, as well as industry / sector and community input. The MMRC meets online during business hours. To cover expenses, community representatives will receive a $100 honorarium for each meeting attended.
Who can apply
We welcome applications from people with a strong connection to Murrindindi Shire and an understanding of local communities and recovery needs. Applicants do not need to belong to an established organisation. Direct experience of the January 2026 bushfires is valued, but it is not the only form of relevant community knowledge or experience.
Council is seeking a diverse range of representatives who can contribute constructively, listen to different perspectives and consider the recovery needs of the broader community.
What will be expected of community representatives?
Community representatives will be expected to:
- attend and actively participate in MMRC meetings
- consider meeting papers and contribute to discussions
- share community knowledge, priorities and emerging concerns
- listen respectfully to different experiences and perspectives
- maintain confidentiality where required
- declare any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest
- comply with the MMRC Terms of Reference and agreed Code of Conduct.
The MMRC is not a service-delivery or individual case-management body. Council will provide members with induction, meeting papers and ongoing support. Applicants can also discuss accessibility or other participation requirements confidentially with the Recovery Team.
