Circular Economy

The Circular Economy Innovation Working Group want to address and repurpose waste of many types within the Shire. This could include reducing food, woody, and agriculture waste in the Shire by providing a facility to convert this waste into a high value compost/biochar product that can be sold at market and educating community on waste management, and how they can contribute to effective waste reduction.

Emerging projects for this area include feasibility of local FOGO processing, researching appropriate pyrolysis and biochar technologies for our Shire and an Alexandra hospitality-business food waste project.
