Do you want to learn about being a more sustainable business?

Council is hosting a workshop for local business owners and operators to learn more about the circular economy and opportunities for managing waste differently. In a circular economy, waste can become a new product, producing new opportunities and reducing costs.

You'll learn from local businesses who are already utilising circular economy principles in how they operate, and pick up tips to help you overcome barriers to making positive change in your business. You will also learn how to access grant funding to support your activities.

Workshop details:

When: Tuesday 19 March from 3.00 - 6.00 pm

Where: Alexandra Shire Hall, 55 Grant Street, Alexandra

You'll hear from local speakers (see below), participate in a Q&A and industry specific brainstorming sessions, and be provided with information on changes to Victoria's waste legislation. Come along and share ideas and learn from other local businesses.

Jodie Morrison and Cat Thomas, Upper Goulburn Landcare Network

Jodie Morrison and Cat Thomas, Upper Goulburn Landcare Network facilitators, have been running Resource Alexandra since 2022. The community volunteer-led project aims to reduce the amount of organic waste going to landfill by collecting waste from the local businesses and putting it through a commercial dehydrator or worm farm. The project to date has saved over 10 tonnes of organic waste going into landfill, instead producing a nutrient rich soil conditioner for local gardeners and horticulturalists. Jodie has also been facilitating the local composting program with Alexandra Secondary students for the past 7 years, sharing her inspirational love of compost with the younger generations and the wider community.
