Connecting the Pieces

Your Voice. Your Puzzle Piece. Our Community.

Over the past six months, members of the community have been busy creating and designing their own unique over-sized puzzle piece, which represents their experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, as part of Murrindindi Shire Council’s collaborative arts project, ‘Connecting the Pieces’.

Council’s DindiLink Team joined together around 650 of these puzzle pieces to create one complete puzzle to represent our collective story as a community.

Council’s Community Engagement and Wellbeing Portfolio Councillor Damien Gallagher said the Connecting the Pieces Project is a fantastic way for community members to reflect on their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and use art to express what those experiences mean to us.

‘It’s wonderful to see so many people get involved in the Project and complete their own puzzle piece, especially children from our local primary schools and community group members from our Community and Neighbourhood Houses.  A huge thank you to all those who took the time to design your own puzzle piece.

‘The Project has not only offered a way for people to express their COVID-19 experience, it has also provided an opportunity for us to connect with one another through art. Creating this puzzle together helps foster greater connection within our communities and can help people feel part of something special, Cr Gallagher added.

Connecting the Pieces is an initiative of Council’s Community Recovery Plan, proudly brought to you by Council’s DindiLink service, with support from the Victorian Government’s Community Activation and Social Isolation Initiative.

We’ve created an online photo gallery to showcase all the wonderful puzzle pieces, check it out here.
